Rudy Armstrong encountered an unforeseen medical emergency aboard his boat, initiating a remarkable story of devotion and friendship. As Rudy was left helpless, his dedicated dog, Bubu, emerged as a heroic figure, swiftly securing the assistance his owner urgently needed.

While suffering from the impact of a stroke, Rudy was unable to access his phone to call for help. Driven by instinct, he looked to Bubu and instructed, “I need help. Go find Kim.” Bubu, a Chihuahua mix, sprang into action, dashing off the boat to seek out Kim, the marina’s dock captain.

Instead of displaying his usual playful behavior, Bubu approached Kim with a serious manner, indicating that trouble was at hand. Brady Popp, a public relations representative for CaroliEast Health System, described the scene, saying, “He stopped directly in front of her and collapsed onto his side.” This act effectively signaled the critical nature of the situation.

Led by Bubu, Kim hurried back to the boat, found Rudy incapacitated by a stroke, and immediately dialed 911. Bubu’s quick thinking allowed Rudy to receive prompt medical care, significantly contributing to his rapid recovery.

After many weeks in the hospital and a rehabilitation center, Rudy longed for his faithful friend. Moved by their bond, Popp arranged an emotional reunion between Rudy and Bubu.

On the reunion day, as Rudy eagerly sat in the garden of the facility, his excitement grew as he awaited Bubu and Kim. Bubu appeared initially confused by the setting but then recognized Rudy as he removed his mask.

“Upon seeing Rudy remove his mask, Bubu instantly knew him, leaped into his lap, and began joyfully licking his face,” Popp conveyed. “It was a touching scene, and everyone present nearly teared up witnessing the clear happiness between Rudy and Bubu.”

Now together again, Rudy and Bubu have returned to their boat, cherishing each new day with the mutual affection and happiness that cement their inseparable bond.
