Pikameow was prone to startling easily by certain noises, which sometimes led to aggressive outbursts. However, during his calm moments, he would knead incessantly, often carrying a stuffed toy in his mouth. Meagan from Puppy Kitty NY City observed, “He’s incredibly sweet most of the time. He makes muffins constantly.”

To better understand and manage his triggers, they enlisted the expertise of a cat behaviorist who took him into a quieter environment, along with his beloved stuffed lamb.

Despite some progress, Pikameow still had episodes triggered by unexpected noises like a phone ringing. Yet, the commitment to his well-being never faltered. The rescue consulted with veterinarians, exploring medications for anxiety and behavioral issues, and maintained a patient approach to his treatment.

Gradually, Pikameow became more receptive to affection, indulging in cuddles and treats. He soon showed enthusiasm for playing with a wand toy and began to show more relaxed behaviors, like lying on his back for belly rubs, stretching his toes in the air, and affectionately grooming his foster mom’s arm.

His response to the prescribed medication was positive, leading to a significant reduction in his aggressive behaviors. Meagan happily reported, “Pika is doing extremely well on his meds. He’s had no episodes of aggression and is as happy as can be.”
