After wandering through yards for months, a cat finds refuge indoors and welcomes her kittens.

A cat wandered through yards for months before finding sanctuary indoors, where she soon welcomed her kittens.

Ambria and her kittensElleп Richter

A beautiful calico cat found herself roaming a neighborhood after being abandoned by her previous owners last year. She approached people for attention and food, displaying a social and outgoing demeanor.

For months, she survived by relying on the kindness of neighbors, but when they discovered she was pregnant, they reached out to Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions for help.

The cat, named Ambria, was transported to a foster home where she could have a quiet space and never worry about her next meal.

She found herself in neighbors’ yards before being rescuedElleп Richter Elleп Richter, a volunteer with the rescue, prepared a cozy nest, warm blankets, and a litter box with outdoor dirt mixed in. “I use this trick with outdoor cats, and it works quickly.”

Ambria seemed pleased with her accommodations, settling down on the floor and seeking affection from her foster mom.

“She had a family at one point with regular meals and lots of affection, and then one day, it was all gone. I think she finally feels safe.”

As her due date approached, Ambria became increasingly affectionate, rubbing her face against her caregivers and furniture. After eating heartily, she sat beside her foster mom, enjoying her company.

“She’s having a great time being treated like a queen. She’s getting bigger and bigger.”

About a week into foster care, Ambria began rearranging her blankets, preparing her nesting box. Three days later, Elleп walked in to find two tiny kittens nestled on Mama’s belly.

By the end of the day, Ambria gave birth to four kittens, but sadly, one didn’t make it. The rest of the litter thrived.

“Mama Ambria is doing amazing, and her remaining three babies are nursing and appear very healthy.”

She is protective of her babies, attending to their every need. Whenever one cries, she rushes over, ensuring the baby is okay.

When Ambria needs a break, she jumps on Elleп’s lap, seeking pets. She never strays far from her kittens, watching over them diligently.

“She’s taking great care of them. Our daily struggle is trying to change the blankets, and she only wants to snuggle her littles.”

The kittens nurse vigorously until their bellies are full, then drift off to sleep in their mom’s loving arms. In just a few days, each of them has a round belly, and the ginger and white kitten is the loudest squeaker.

In two weeks, the kittens’ eyes will open, and they will begin exploring their nest. Ambria is raising her last litter in a comfortable home, free from worry about food and shelter.

She is grateful to be indoors with her precious three, knowing they are safe and loved.
