Kittens were discovered at a loading dock mere hours after being born. Among them, one distinct kitten had just one ear but the spirit of a warrior.

Deej, an animal rescuer skilled in handling critical, special needs, and neonatal cases, was approached for help with this litter. “Upon their arrival, it was evident their condition was far more severe than anticipated,” Deej recounted to Love Meow.
The kittens were prematurely born and left to fend for themselves from the start. They were chillingly cold and suffered from frostbite on their extremities. “By the time they reached my care, their temperatures were dangerously low, yet, against all odds, they clung to life.”

By the fifth day, their ravenous appetites had caught them up to the size of typical newborn kittens, and they even began purring contentedly after eating.
DeejAbout ten days into their recovery, the frostbitten areas began to slough off, signaling healing. “This tiny litter continued to amaze me daily with their resilience.”
Grimes, named after Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, bore the brunt of the frostbite. “She lost one ear, three toe beans on a front paw, and half her tail.”

“Her sibling, Walker, lost the tips of both ears, giving him the perpetual appearance of a teddy bear, along with half his tail. Van Cow, echoing Van Gogh, also lost an ear and is marked like a small cow.”
Deej“Ellie, named after The Last of Us, was fortunate to be ‘immune’ to the frostbite and retained all her extremities.”
Deej tirelessly worked through many sleepless nights to nurse them back to health, providing continual care, maintaining their cleanliness, and offering abundant affection.
Walker has teddy bear-like earsDeejGrimes and her siblings started socializing with other foster kittens that were a week older but noticeably larger.
